Simply the Aegean Sea has to do with what could be the new operating system that Nokia should choice for powering its low-level phones, which are 47% of the value of Q2 sales for the Finnish. The new OS would be called Meltemi (summer winds that blow from the north on the Aegean Sea) and is based on Linux; at least this is what the Wall Street Journal reporter Christopher Lawton, who adds that the project should be directed to Mary McDowell, Nokia executive vice president. This choice could mean the abandon of Symbian and the adoption of only two platforms: WP7 for medium/high level devices and Meltemi for low/level, possibly dedicated to emerging countries where the demand is more oriented to the cellular basic functions than to those typical of smartphones.
