Qualche giorno fa il nostro grande Roberto (aka rf74) ci relazionava sul prossimo Asus Transformer Prime e sulla previsione che l’aggiornamento ad Ice Cream Sandwich sarebbe stato disponibile per la fine dell’anno o all’inizio del 2012; oggi il sito polacco Tablet-online.pl ha pubblicato la notizia che i tablet Acer della serie Iconia Tab riceveranno l’aggiornamento nelle prime settimane del prossimo anno. Come sempre queste notizie sono da prendere con il beneficio del dubbio perchè non c’è nessuna comunicazione ufficiale da parte di Acer al proposito. Il product manager Android Gabe Cohen ha dichiarato che i tablet Honeycomb potrebbero essere aggiornati ad ICS già oggi ma che la presenza di UI proprietarie rende necessario un certosino lavoro di adattamento. Da possessore di un Iconia Tab A500 non posso che augurarmi che l’aggiornamento non si faccia attendere a lungo.
Family Iconia Acer tablets will be updated to ICS early 2012
A few days ago our great Roberto (aka rf74) reported us on the upcoming Asus Transformer Prime and on the prediction that the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich would be available later this year or early 2012; today the Polish site Tablet-online.pl published the news that Acer Iconia Tab series tablets will receive the update in the first weeks of next year. As always, this information should be taken with a grain of salt because there is no official communication from Acer about it. The Android product manager Gabe Cohen said that the tablet could be upgraded to Honeycomb ICS just today but that the presence of proprietary UI requires a painstaking job of adaptation. As a Acer Iconia Tab A500 owner I can only hope that the update doesn’t wait longer.
