Sappiamo tutti che uno degli aspetti più importanti per le case produttrici è mantenere il più assoluto riserbo sui nuovi dispositivi, soprattutto quelli considerati il “non plus ultra” della propria produzione. Apple è sicuramente la casa che ha tracciato la strada, nonostante qualche episodio, come quello del presunto “furto” di un esemplare di iPhone 4 (secondo me magistralmente pianificato), abbia minato la proverbiale segretezza della casa di Cupertino. Sempre pronta a “confrontarsi” con l’acerrima rivale, anche Samsung non è stata da meno quando si è trattato di gestire il progetto del Galaxy S3, successore di quel S2 definito il “miglior dispositivo Android di sempre”. Solo pochissimi addetti hanno potuto vedere il telefono durante le varie fasi e solo in un’aerea di massima sicurezza negli stabilimenti Samsung a Seul; nessuna discussione era permessa al di fuori della stessa area. Per il trasporto, anche all’interno degli uffici, il prototipo è sempre stato nascosto in speciali contenitori; per evitare il rischio di foto rubate, Samsung ha prodotto tre diversi dispositivi, uno dei quali è quello della foto, ed un altro era quello senza il tasto centrale apparso in qualche immagine. Tutti protetti da falsi case, utilizzati per nascondere il design originale. Le misure di sicurezza non si sono ridotte neanche quando il GS3 ha raggiunto la fase definitiva tanto che, per i test degli operatori, gli esemplari sono sempre stati consegnati a mano ad impiegati selezionati e provati sotto lo stretto controllo degli uomini Samsung. Solo ad una settimana dal lancio di Londra, quando è stato presentato il manuale d’uso, è apparso la prima immagine (per altro disegnata) ufficiale. Altro che Top Secret!!!
